Despite the slight musical hiccup at the beginning of Dream, Believe, Achieve 2018, Quesnel Figure Skating Club coach Carly Dinicol says the gala went well.

“It went really great. Everyone said it was really cute.”

Dinicol notes they put it together in eight practice sessions because they had the Super Series in Kelowna the week before.

“We got back on Sunday night and started working on the gala on Monday morning. So we had eight sessions with each group number. It was crazy busy!”

It’s too bad they couldn’t take more time for the gala, she says, adding they simply don’t have the time.

“It’s just the way the competitive season goes, but the gala went well.”

Dinicol notes the number that got messed up at the beginning became an encore presentation at the end of the night.

“It was a really good experience for the kids because it’s the first time they got to showcase what they’ve learned.

“There were kids as young as three who were taking part… pretty cute. When they first got on the ice in January, they were not standing up.”

She says it was nice to see them out on the ice on there own and dressed up in their Super Hero outfits.

Noting it was admission by donation, Dinicol says there was a really good crowd.

The club is hosting the Regional Test Day on April 8 and the following week is Fun Week, she adds, with lots of relays and other fun stuff.

Dinicol thanks the crowd at the gala, volunteers, club executive, gala co- ordinator Kate Hayner, and all of the program assistants.
