The City of Quesnel will be hosting a pre-nominee information session for anyone thinking of running for local office.

Nomination forms for the offices of one mayor and six councillors will be available as of Aug. 17 at City Hall. They will be received by the Chief Election Officer, or a designated person, from 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9.

Municipal elections will be held across B.C. on Saturday, Oct. 15.

A pre-nominee information session that will provide important information and documentation for those considering candidacy will take place at City Hall Council Chambers starting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

“A second session may be held if warranted,” reads a City news release.

Bob Simpson, who was acclaimed as mayor of Quesnel in the 2018 B.C. municipal elections, confirmed earlier this year he would be seeking re-election. Last week most councillors said they had not yet decided whether they would be seeking another term or that it was too early to comment.
