Passionate community members needed

The Amata Transition House Society is inviting the community to consider becoming a volunteer on their board of directors.

The Amata Transition House has been serving the Quesnel and area community since 1979. They provide 24-hour support and housing to women and their children who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, violence and abuse. The Amata House also provides women with various programs and services, including the PEACE program (Prevention. Education. Advocacy. Counselling. Empowerment.) which has been a longstanding and successful program in the community.

The Amata Transition House is currently working with experienced consultants to assess how the organization and the house can better serve the Quesnel community in years to come.

After working through the pandemic, the current board members have come to the end of their terms and are actively recruiting and seeking community members to take up positions on the board. They are seeking community members who are passionate, inspired and diverse to take up this exciting volunteer opportunity. Candidates for these positions would ideally be interested in inclusive feminism, have compassion regarding the current opioid crisis and possibly have a skill set regarding health and safety, labour management, or finance.

Any interested community member can sign up as a member of the Amata Transition House Society, which allows them to attend the AGM this month. More information about the Amata Transition House, its mission and its programs can be found on Facebook or at
