It’s going to be a big weekend for Jonathan Schaefer and his coach Dale Chapplow. The Hall of Fame archers are in Las Vegas for the three-day World Archery Festival hosted by the National Field Archery Association.

The Correlieu senior secondary Clan boys basketball team had a good showing at their own tournament with a third-place finish in the seven-team tournament thanks to an exciting 82-80 win over Prince George senior secondary Polars.

They came close last year with a third place finish and this year Lori Freeman has high expectations of herself and her team at the Senior Ladies Curling provincial championships, Feb 21 — 26 in Kamloops, B.C.

The Quesnel Millionaires are once again holders of the CNC Challenge Cup after a 3-2 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings thanks to Rigby Burgart. Burgart scored the winner 11 minutes into the third period after he blocked a point shot and then outraced the Spruce Kings defenceman to the loose puck and skated in alone on netminder Kirk Thompson.

The Quesnel Waveriders swimming club continued their run of solid performances last weekend in Kamloops with more trips to the podium during the Valentine Splash.

They smiled, surrounded by proud family and friends and they were humble, as their dedication to sport was recognized by the Quesnel Sports Hall of Fame.

The Quesnel River Archers hosted the Goldpan 1200 competition at the Barlow Creek hall last weekend and stole the show.

With the barn on Barlow operating at peak efficiency, it was a Zamboni door malfunction reminiscent of Super Bowl XXXVIII that caused a unique one-game week in the FHL.
